Downstream

* "Downstream", the new Sniff'n'The Tears album, is their first since 2000's "Underground". Joining Paul Roberts are original guitarist Les Davidson and bass player Nick South, plus drummer Richard Marcangelo who played on the 1982 album "The Game's Up" and Robin Langridge on keyboards. Robin played on "Underground" and Paul's two 1980's solo albums. Also featured on accordion and piano is Paul's daughter Caitlin.

* The new record has the freshness of a live performance, coupled with some great new songs. `Snowblind Lovers' has been likened to a meeting of The Rolling Stones with Steely Dan. `Black Money' was written in response to the Iraq war and its aftermath but now has taken on a more contemporary resonance.

* If there is a theme to the new songs it might be the title song `Downstream' that best sums it up. It is that however we try to live our lives events will always conspire to intervene. Part of the album's looser, more live approach is to do with the sheer pleasure the band took in playing together again and a feeling that the time was right.
