Rare Round-Up: Entertainment News of the Week (23/06/2023)

This week, announcements were dominated by a multitude of film pre-orders including limited edition collector’s sets.

Starting with one of the most popular releases, ‘The Wicker Man’ received a complete transformation in honour of its 50th anniversary. The new and original artwork stays true to the original cover by incorporating the iconic Wicker figure as its centrepiece. Its twist, however, comes in the form of an appropriate summer colour palette and floral accents.
Second Sight Film also introduced collector’s sets for two cult films, ‘It Follows’ and ‘Crimes of the Future’. The reception was highly regarded by original fans and avid film collectors. The editions include a hardback book featuring bonus content, rigid slipcases and art cards with new and original artwork.
There were also notable announcements in the game industry which bought about a variety of new graphics, gameplay and characters.
Sonic Origins Plus’ reintroduces the classic Sonic titles with updated content, new graphics and exciting features. Similarly, ‘Final Fantasy’ had a 16th addition to its series which included refreshed content as well as a set of unique characters and storylines. Although the game is currently only compatible with PS5, producer Naoki Yoshida has teased a PC version which could see a release in 2024.
'Getsu Fuma Den' also received a revival from its 1987 PC release. Now compatible with Nintendo Switch, the game pays homage to its origins by incorporating traditional Japanese art and references.
