When Kotoko Iwanaga (voice of Akari Kitô) was eleven she was taken by spirits known as youkai, who asked her to become the Goddess of Wisdom and serve as a mediator between the youkai and human realms. She accepts and loses one eye and one leg. Now 17, she is in love with Kuro Sakuragawa (Mamoru Miyano), who has powerful healing abilities and who youkai fear.
