In their dangerous and male-dominated neighbourhood, the girls forge an enduring friendship that continues into their teenage years, as they each strive to prolong their education. Years later, Elena, now in her 60s, receives a phone call informing her of Lila's disappearance and begins to reflect on their lifelong friendship. In this series, Elena endeavours to continue her education while Lila gets a job in a shoe store.
