Blue Bloods follows a multigenerational family of New York law enforcement as dedicated to one another as they are to their city. Led by patriarch and NYPD police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), who leads a family with justice in their blood, including eldest son Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), a detective who bends the rules to close cases with his partner Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez). Daughter Erin (Bridget Moynahan) is a New York Assistant DA who serves as the family legal expert. Youngest son Jamie (Will Estes) gave up a future in law for the cop life and is joined by wife and ally Eddie (Vanessa Ray). Frank's father, retired commissioner Henry (Len Cariou), is the glue that binds them all together.
