Rare Round-Up: Entertainment News of the Week (13/10/2023)

Usually, I’d start these by telling you how crazy busy it's been, and it’s always busy, but this week has been on the more relaxed side of busy.

So, with that said, let’s take a little stroll down Entertainment Street, as we take a look at what’s been going on in film, music, TV and books this week.

Starting with music and books, it’s been a week of celebration: National Album Day is focusing on the 90s this year! If you’re a physical music collector and grew up on artists like Blur, Fatboy Slim, Stone Temple Pilots, The Corrs and Garbage, then this week is a rather exciting one. There is an array of classic albums being reissued as part of the celebration!

To make it even better, we have a sale of up to 50% on music by Demon Music Group.

Outside of National Album Day, former the Go-Go’s vocalist Belinda Carlisle continues to chronicle her prolific solo career with Decades Volume 2, a media book containing her last four albums as well as all lyrics and credits.

Plus, Evanescence are celebrating 20 years since Fallen- their 2003 debut album. Undoubtedly one of the most successful rock bands of all time, Fallen is the sixth best-selling album of the 21st century. The 20th Anniversary remastered edition includes updated cover art, B-sides, rarities, and live recordings!

In terms of new music, Madness are back with their new album: Theatre of the Absurd presents C'est La Vie and blues rock icon Joe Bonamassa is back with Blues Deluxe Volume 2, the follow-up to Part 1, 20 years later!

As for books, this week marks the biggest week of the year for you bookworms! As we gear up for the festive period, there are tonnes of new and exciting books hitting shelves including biographies by Sir Patrick Stewart and Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge, as well as new novels by Richard Osman and Rick Riordan’s Peter Jackson series!

In film, Jim Jarmusch’s 90s classic Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai is described as a “sharp, unique thriller.” Now its even sharper in 4K! The multi-award-winning crime drama starring Forest Whitaker as the mysterious hitman known as “Ghost Dog” is coming to 4K, Blu-ray and standard DVD remastered, as well as with a steelbook.

Last but certainly not least, it’s Friday the 13th! Whether you’re watching your favourite horror movies or cowering under a blanket trying to avoid the bad luck, we hope you have a great day, and it can be made even better with our horror sale!
